Our Research

We study the foundational protective factors that promote resilience.

Building on 20 years of field research, our clinical team continues to innovate psychological care for responders worldwide. Using the Headington Institute Resilience Inventory (HIRI)—the most comprehensive peer-reviewed resilience assessment for aid workers—we regularly discover new insights about what helps and what hinders the wellbeing and resilience of global humanitarians. At the time of its release in 2017, the assessment had been validated with data from more than 3,000 participants across 130 countries. Each year we add another 1,000–1,500 participants to our data pool.

We are also actively expanding our research to capture the changes we see in our society as more work settings become high-risk and more industries need guidance on promoting resilience. Through our continued exploration of factors that foster resilience, we hope to bring about a more healthy, resilient, and connected society.

We learn more about how resilience works every time someone takes the assessment. Want to confidentially contribute your experience to our database? Contact us today!
